Hello, my name is Lydia. I’m from Sakha, a Russian minority region.
I love hanging out with my friends. In Sakha, the indigenous people and Russians live together. I always thought it was unfair for Russians to look down upon the Sakha people and occupy our lands. I was not the only one who thought like this. All the people of Sakha have long been scarred by the Russian occupation of Sakha.
One day, I came across the name of Jesus. I actually did not like Christianity, because I thought it was the religion of the Russian people. I was cynical about it. However, what I heard about Jesus was so different from what I’d known my whole life. He loves all nations, and He loves me so much too, to the point of dying on the cross.
I started reading the Bible, and from the Word, I felt great freedom and joy. I decided to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior! Hallelujah!
I shared about Jesus to my friends. Eventually, all the misunderstandings my friends had about Jesus disappeared. They were so joyful to hear about Jesus, and they have also accepted Jesus with great joy!
Four of us gather every Sunday to worship and read the Bible together. We want to learn more about Jesus and live for Jesus alone for the rest of our lives. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would help us to live our lives as disciples of Jesus.
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
(Colossians 2:6-7, NKJV)
Hallelujah! We praise the Lord for allowing Sister Lydia, who had misunderstandings about Jesus, to know that Jesus is the Truth and to accept Him as her Lord and Savior.
Just as Sister Lydia felt great freedom and joy through the Word and preached the gospel to her friends, we desire to see Sister Lydia’s friends also share the grace they have received with others! Lord, allow Sister Lydia and her friends to always abide in the Holy Spirit. May they be strongly rooted in the faith. May they live as new creations and as disciples of Jesus Christ alone.
Lord, answer their desires and confessions, and mature their faith daily. Let them live their lives full of thanksgiving. Through them, pour out Your grace upon countless people in Sakha, that all of Sakha may return to You, Jesus Christ! And through the church of Sakha, may all nations who have been scarred by oppression receive grace and return to Jesus too! Amen!
