Major damage resulted from a “water crisis” that erupted in India, which has already been struggling due to the novel coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19).
Local media reported that 20 people were killed in recent torrential rainstorms that affected Assam province and some other regions in northeastern India.
More than 1 million people were affected by the torrential rains and more than 29,000 were evacuated as the area was flooded. According to a meteorologist, “In the case of The World Heritage-listed Kaziranga National Park, 70% of the entire park was submerged in water.”
Kaziranga National Park is famous for being a sanctuary for the rare Indian one-horned rhinoceros.
In Assam, 11 people were killed by flooding in just the month of May 2020 alone, and since the end of May, monsoon season has begun, causing the number of people affected by flooding to only increase.
Doubtless You are our Father,
Though Abraham was ignorant of us,
And Israel does not acknowledge us.
You, O Lord, are our Father;
Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.
(Isaiah 63:16, NKJV)
We Praise the God who is the true King, Lord, and Father of India. Although no one may pay attention to this tragedy in which a handful of people died in a country filled with so many people, our God who is the Father of India is paying full attention.
Lord, would You save this nation that is unable to hear the gospel and is helplessly dying due to natural disaster! Would You take pity on the 1.3 billion people in India, and let Your gospel be quickly testified in this land!
Like a tree stump, there remains the church of India in this land. When the church of India prays for their own beloved nation, we believe that COVID-19 and every false idol shall flee! Let all those who seek the Lord with a desperate spirit encounter their Heavenly Father and Redeemer in Jesus Christ! Amen!
