As the Yemeni Houthi rebels' participation in the war against Iran becomes a reality, maritime transport in the Red Sea has come under direct impact. Tensions are rising across the global supply chain as the possibility of the Middle East war escalating into maritime logistics increases.
The Houthi, a pro-Iranian Islamic militant group in Yemen, launched airstrikes on Israel on the 28th (local time) and declared their participation in the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sari stated, "We have launched ballistic and cruise missile and drone attacks on key Israeli military facilities," adding, "We will continue military operations until Israel ceases its attacks and aggression."
The Houthis are a Shiite armed group that has controlled northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, since 2014, and are considered one of Iran's representative proxy forces.
Although a significant number of the leadership were eliminated in an Israeli airstrike last August, Israel has not been able to locate Supreme Leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi. The UN believes that a large portion of their weapons originated from Iran.
The key variable is the extent to which the Houthis intervene.

Pareah Al-Muslimi, a Middle East expert at the British think tank Chatham House, pointed out that "continued turmoil in the Red Sea will simultaneously stimulate rising shipping costs and oil prices, placing an additional burden on the global economy."
He added, "It appears that Iran is unfolding a broad strategy to revitalize its allies across the region," and "over time, the perception within Yemen that the Houthi rebels are overly dependent on Iran will grow."
The Guardian analyzed that Saudi Arabia is also a variable. Saudi Arabia is currently deeply involved in the reconstruction of southern Yemen and the establishment of political order. It is believed that the Houthis are likely to act cautiously as they also expect financial support. Accordingly, there is speculation that the Houthis might limit themselves to limited attacks rather than a full blockade of the Red Sea, leaving room for negotiation.
The key to this intervention lies in the extent to which the Houthis utilize their maritime interdiction capabilities. If they resort to a full-scale blockade, this could escalate beyond a simple regional conflict into a global supply chain crisis.
Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, expressed concern, stating, "This escalation of tensions will drag Yemen into a regional war, making conflict resolution more difficult and prolonging civilian suffering."

“And through him all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, were reconciled to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross.” (Col 1:20)
Heavenly Father, as the war between Iran, Israel, and the United States continues for about a month, I see the chaos escalating with the Houthi rebels in Yemen declaring their participation.
Amidst the conflict in the Middle East, filled with turmoil and rumors of unrest, and the sounds of suffering and death abound, I believe that God does not remain silent and is listening to all those prayers and groans.
God said that He desires to reconcile all things through the blood of Jesus. Please let the people of Iran and the Middle East come quickly to Jesus, relying on that precious blood.
Please accept the prayers of the churches in Iran and the Middle East, and of the global church, who continue to pray with tears; and may the global church become one that prays with the Father's heart until all nations are reconciled with the Lord, going beyond the end of the war.
May the spirit of falsehood that incites war and causes conflict among Iran, Yemen, and the Middle East depart in the name of Jesus, and may the day come soon when all nations are reconciled with the Lord.
Therefore, may Yemen rise up as a nation that proclaims the praise of Jehovah rather than news of war, and may the peace of Jesus come quickly into Iran and the Middle East!
