[Today’s Prayer] U.S. Military Expands Airstrikes on IS… Over 30 Targets Hit Since Early This Month

The United States has expanded its airstrikes against the Islamic extremist group Islamic State (IS).

According to the U.S. political media outlet Politico on the 14th (local time), U.S. Central Command, which oversees American forces in the Middle East, stated in a release that it conducted 10 airstrikes against IS in Syria over a ten-day period beginning on the 3rd of this month.

The airstrikes targeted more than 30 sites, including weapons storage facilities and supply and command infrastructure, and at least 50 IS members were killed or captured.

The U.S. military has continued retaliatory airstrikes since December 13 of last year, when two U.S. service members and an interpreter were killed in an IS ambush in central Syria.

So far, the U.S. military has struck more than 100 IS-related targets.

In addition, the U.S. military announced that it has transferred thousands of detained IS members in Syria to Iraq.

The IS members are expected to stand trial in Iraq.

Also, grant heavenly wisdom to every military decision and moment of airstrike, and protect the Syrian people throughout the entire process of eliminating IS.

Though peace cannot be achieved by human strength, may the peace that pleases God come upon Syria through Jesus Christ alone. Even amid Syria’s political situation—where those who share the same Islamic faith are divided into Shia and Sunni sects and persecute minority sects—strengthen the Syrian church to stand firmly on the rock of faith, so that by proclaiming the gospel to the end, they may partake in the true glory of the Kingdom of God.

Lord, in this season when Syria’s turmoil is being brought into order, raise up the global church and believers to pray for Syria and the peoples of the Middle East. May the gospel be planted in the place where the power of IS has disappeared, and may the Syrian people overcome the fear of war and participate in the work of receiving Jesus Christ, the true King of Peace. Through the prayers of the global church, may the eternal rule of God’s Kingdom come upon all the land of Syria beyond the armies of the world and political agreements.

Thus, in the last days, may the yoke of war in Syria be broken, and may the Syrian people rise restored as a channel of the gospel! May they become a great priestly people of the Arabs who govern Syria and the Middle East with God’s justice and order!
