The Syrian Kurdish armed group, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), attacked government forces, resulting in two deaths, according to the Syrian state news agency SANA on the 20th (local time).
According to the Syrian Ministry of Defense, in the early morning, the SDF shelled government force positions in the northeastern Raqqa region of Syria and captured some of them. This attack caused the death of two government soldiers and injured several others.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense claimed, “Government forces counterattacked, reclaimed the positions, and drove out the SDF.”
Last December, the Islamist rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) overthrew Bashar al-Assad’s dictatorship and established a temporary government, but since then, the SDF has continued to clash with pro-Turkey rebel forces in northeastern Syria.
(In brief)
Last September, President al-Shara criticized the SDF in a media interview, saying, “The SDF is leading issues of decentralization or division,” and mentioned that the goal is to complete the integration of government forces by the end of this year.

“Where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there will be disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace” (James 3:16-18)
God, we hear the news that in Raqqa, northeastern Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) shelled government bases and captured some positions, resulting in the deaths of two government soldiers and injuries to several others.
Lord, the Kurdish people in Syria are in conflict and clashes with government forces over independence. Please pour out Your great mercy on the Kurdish people who have long sought to live for independence.
At this time, may You come upon the Syrian people. May all chaos and evil caused by jealousy and disputes cease, and may Your rule be revealed.
We pray that the global church would serve and pray with a merciful heart for Syria and the Kurds. Through the prayers and petitions of the global church, may true freedom and peace come to Syria and the Kurds, and may the two peoples be united and restored through the cross.
Now, may the Kurdish people live as a nation that places their hope not in independence movements but in the Kingdom of God.
May the Kurds and Syria become peacemakers and a people who harvest the fruit of righteousness for all nations. And so may all nations also become peacemakers!
