[Today’s Prayer] Sudanese warlords intensify bloody conflict, approximately 700 dead in two days
Reuters reported on the 9th (local time) that in Sudan, North Africa, where armed conflict between warlords has continued for more than six months, about 700 people were reportedly killed in two days alone due to intensified fighting.
According to reports, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement that day that about 700 people were known to have died as a result of clashes between government forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in West Darfur, Sudan, on the 4th and 5th of this month. The number of injured and missing people was reported to be 100 and 300, respectively.
In Sudan, bloodshed has continued for more than half a year since the government forces led by General Abdel Fattah Burhan and the RSF led by Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo clashed in April last year.
The conflict that was centered in the metropolitan area, including Khartoum, has spread to western Darfur and elsewhere, turning into an ethnic conflict. To date, more than 9,000 people have died and more than 5.6 million people have been displaced, and the damage continues to increase.
On this day, a witness living in Omdurman, a city near the capital Khartoum, told AFP that there had been fighting just the day before, and that "the bodies of those wearing military uniforms were left strewn on the streets of the city center after yesterday's battle."
Another witness said a shell hit Al-Naw Hospital in northern Omdurman, killing a woman who worked there. This hospital is the last remaining medical facility in the Omdurman region.
The international community again raised concerns about civilian casualties.
“Hundreds of thousands of civilians and refugees are at great risk in North Darfur,” said Toby Howard, the UN deputy coordinator for humanitarian affairs in Darfur.

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain (Hebrews 6:17-19).
God, we are hearing that the armed conflict between warlords in Sudan, which has been going on for over six months, has intensified and about 700 people have been killed in two days.
Lord, please have mercy on the souls of Sudan, who are trembling in fear without protection from anyone due to the civil war where they do not hesitate to take each other's lives for their own economic and political gain.
We confess that the Lord Jesus is the only one who can be a refuge for Sudan, who is suffering in the chaos of not knowing when or what will happen.
The Lord gave the name of Jesus Christ to the Sudanese people, and promised that those who believe in that name will inherit the kingdom of God. We pray that the Sudanese people will quickly hear this amazing promise, the Word of life, and come to the cross of the Lord.
Amidst any chaos, we pray that only the promised Word of the Lord and the hope of God's kingdom will become the anchor of the soul of the Sudanese people, and their faith and hope will take deep root and become strong and solid, so that the Sudanese people will enter the veil of the Lord and gain eternal life.
Fill the Sudanese people with your Word of life and the Holy Spirit and following his leading, let them press on toward the goal shown by the Lord and achieve the fulfilment of your Word as it fills all nations.
