As the civil war between Sudan's military government and paramilitary forces enters its fourth year, it is developing into one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. Large-scale civilian casualties, famine, and attacks on religious communities are occurring simultaneously, increasing concern throughout the international community.
According to CBN News, the number of forcibly displaced people is estimated to be between 12 and 14 million, while more than 20 million people are suffering from severe food shortages. This represents more than one-third of the country's population. Since the outbreak of fighting in 2023, the estimated death toll ranges from 60,000 to 400,000.

Open Doors USA, an international Christian persecution watchdog organization, ranks Sudan as the fourth-worst country in the world for Christian persecution.
Ryan Brown, CEO of Open Doors USA, said, "Christians are often among the last groups to receive protection in times of chaos," adding, "Even when aid is available, it rarely reaches Christians."
According to the U.S. State Department, more than 160 churches have been destroyed or damaged since the war began. Some churches and mosques have reportedly been converted into military facilities or looted.

Workers on the ground report severe humanitarian issues, including sexual violence against women and cases of teenage pregnancy.
Some peace activists point out that "the international community's indifference is worsening the situation." One individual who previously participated in Sudan peace negotiations stated, "If the world turns its back on Sudan, it will be an even greater betrayal," urging continued attention and intervention.

"When You give to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things. When You hide Your face, they are terrified; when You take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. When You send forth Your Spirit, they are created, and You renew the face of the ground. May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in His works." (Psalm 104:28–31)
Lord, we hear that as the civil war between Sudan's military government and paramilitary forces continues into its fourth year, a severe humanitarian crisis is spreading throughout Sudan.
Please have mercy on the people of Sudan who have been forcibly displaced and are suffering from food shortages because of the war.
Lord, You are the One who gives breath and takes it away. Pour out Your Spirit upon the people of Sudan and bring them renewal and restoration. Bring an end to the war in Sudan and renew the land, so that the glory of the LORD alone may continue in Sudan.
May the local churches in Sudan continue to preach the Gospel to the very end. Even in poverty and persecution, may they trust in the Lord who fed His people with manna. May they proclaim that the battle belongs to the Lord and walk in victory.
May the global Church pay attention to Sudan, pray for the nation, and provide for its needs, so that the people of Sudan may come to know the God who opens His hand and satisfies them with good things.
And may Sudan arise as a faithful nation that refreshes the heart of Jesus, who desires the salvation of all peoples and nations. Amen.
