Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet republic that has been working to strengthen its national identity, is pushing for a change to its national anthem, citing it as reminiscent of the former Soviet Union.
According to AFP and other sources on the 15th (local time), the Kyrgyz National Assembly recently formed a separate committee for national anthem change and decided to introduce the new national anthem by April next year.
When Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian country, gained independence in 1991 following the dissolution of the former Soviet Union, it adopted a new national anthem based on the existing song with only changed lyrics.
This movement to change the country is analyzed as a response to public opinion that has been growing in Kyrgyzstan for several years to strengthen national identity.
Recently, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov pointed out that the current national anthem only praises the country's independence from the former Soviet Union, while omitting the part about the country having 5,000 years of national history, and called for the creation of a nation that can inspire young people and future generations.
The new national anthem is expected to feature completely different lyrics as well as tunes.
Earlier, Kyrgyz authorities also changed the names of places associated with the former Soviet Communist Party.
While also recognizing Russian as the official language, they began to encourage the use of the Kyrgyz national language.

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” (Revelations 7:9-10)
We hear that Kyrgyzstan is revamping its national anthem, which it sang when it was a member of the former Soviet Union, to strengthen its national identity and add lyrics about its 5,000-year history to inspire future generations.
Praise God for 5,000 years of Kyrgyzstan's history!
May Kyrgyzstan throw off the old worn-out clothes, put on new white clothes, and proclaim that salvation belongs to our God and to the Lamb!
Let Kyrgyzstan be a nation that falls down before Your throne in praise and worship!
Let the youth of Kyrgyzstan, especially, come forth like the dawn dew, taking up their crosses and obeying You for the salvation of their country and all peoples!
Through the unity of the Churches of Central Asia and Russia, may Kyrgyzstan be a nation that keeps Your Great Commission, preparing the way for Your return!
As the global church sends laborers into the harvest in Kyrgyzstan, let the young people of Kyrgyzstan who have heard the gospel of the cross of Jesus Christ bear witness to the name of Jesus to the nations!
Through Kyrgyzstan, the key to heaven for the final revival, let the revival of Central Asia take place!
Rise up a million Kyrgyz army to advance with the gospel to Central Asia and the nations!
