[Today’s Prayer] Resumption of fighting between Myanmar military and rebels... Refugee evacuation
The rebels and military junta government forces resumed fighting in a key city in the Myanmar-Thailand border area controlled by Myanmar rebels, causing up to 2,000 refugees to evacuate to Thailand.
According to AP and AFP on the 20th (local time), fighting between the Myanmar military and rebels, including the ethnic armed group Karen National Union (KNU), took place in the Myawaddy area in eastern Myanmar starting this morning.
A Thai police official explained that the fight broke out when the KNU attacked Myanmar military troops hiding near a bridge on the border using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).
According to Thai police, approximately 1,300 to 2,000 Myanmar refugees are known to have crossed the Thai border to avoid this.
Thai authorities are giving them food and moving them to a safe place, and have also decided to evacuate Thai civilians living nearby to a safe zone.
Previously, on the 11th, in Myawaddy, a strategic point in Myanmar's eastern border region, the KNU and the Civil Defense Force (PDF) under the National Unity Government (NUG), the provisional government of the democratic camp, occupied the last remaining government military base and took control of the area.
Afterwards, there was no fighting in this area for about a week, but it resumed on this day.
The fighting eased somewhat by midday, but a police official in Mae Sot city, Tak Province, northern Thailand, adjacent to Myawaddy, said sporadic gunfire continued to be heard.
In response, Thai Prime Minister Theta Tawisin said he was closely monitoring the border situation, adding in his X(previously Twitter): "We are ready to protect our borders and the safety of our people. At the same time, we are ready to provide humanitarian assistance if necessary."

You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord. (Psalm 32:7,10)
Praise the God of Salvation, who becomes Myanmar's hiding place and protection from hardship.
May we see the ability of the Lord to peace them and to cover them with a song of salvation, even though the fighting resumes and conflicts are rising.
We pray for your protection of 2,000 refugees and Thailand.
Many worries and fears surround them, but at the time they are in need desperately, let them call out the name of the Lord.
Let the power of satan that binds this land collapse, and let it rise as a pure people who only trust Jehovah and rise as a church that carries the revival of ASEAN.
