Recently, the "17+8 National Demands" and the "Brave Pink, Hero Green" campaign have been spreading across Indonesian social media, with users' profile pictures turning pink and green.
According to local media outlets such as Kompas.com on the 3rd, the campaign contains 17 long-term and 8 short-term demands for the Indonesian government, and stems from criticism of the National Assembly's salary policy and the police's harsh crackdown on protesters. The pink represents the female protesters who confronted police with bamboo sticks at the August 28th protest site, while the green symbolizes the sacrifice of the motorcycle rider who died after being struck by a riot police vehicle that night, as seen in the jackets worn by ride-hailing app drivers for Gojek and Grab. Participants can change their profile pictures to the campaign colors through a dedicated website.
At the same time, as footage of recent protests and violent crackdowns has been released, leading to widespread anxiety, insomnia, and panic attacks, the Indonesian Ministry of Health has established a free mental health counseling service. Indeed, some citizens have reported experiencing physical symptoms, such as anxiety and breathing difficulties, due to videos of the protests.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Women's Solidarity held a rally in front of the main gate of the National Assembly (DPR) in Jakarta around 10:00 AM today under the theme "Women Against State Violence." The protests continued, with President Prabowo demanding an immediate end to state violence.
The Indonesian National Police announced that a total of 1,240 people, including 611 adults and 629 children, were arrested during the protests in front of the National Assembly. The Indonesian National Human Rights Commission reported that at least 10 people were killed and numerous others injured following the protests.

You love justice and hate wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellow citizens. (Psalm 45:7)
God, we have recently heard that nationwide protests against the government in Indonesia, followed by a violent crackdown, have resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, and a campaign demanding that the president immediately cease state violence is spreading.
This year, protests in Indonesia began amidst mounting public anger over government policies that have led to economic pressures such as skyrocketing prices and job losses due to mass layoffs. As these protests have escalated into large-scale demonstrations, we confess that only our Savior, Jesus, can end this conflict.
Lord, have mercy on the Indonesian people who have halted their daily lives and taken to the streets to raise their voices due to the government's economic violence and oppression.
Hear the voices of the Indonesian people, groaning and crying out in the face of life's hardships. Soothe their suffering hearts with Your warm hand. As they live each day in fear, may You pour out Your light of life upon them.
May God, the King who loves justice and hates evil, rule over Indonesia, so that the corrupt Indonesian government may abandon human greed and aspirations and become leaders established solely by the anointing of Your joy.
To this end, may the global church, like David, who relied solely on You amidst suffering, endure together in prayer. May they continue to understand the hearts of the Indonesian people and spread the Gospel of life!
Also, may they rise up as Indonesian churches, not losing faith, but becoming ever more attached to You, following Your Word and holding the banner of Your kingdom, not the banner of resistance, but at the forefront, leading the global church!
May the Indonesian people rise above their pain and groaning, singing a new song as an army of immense praise, advancing to the ends of the earth!
