“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” (Psalm 51:17)

We hear the news that Pakistan provided humanitarian aid, including food, medical assistance, and technical support, after dispatching a warship to help an Indian vessel stranded at sea despite the long-standing hostility between the two countries.

Lord, You used Pakistan to save the lives of Indian and Indonesian people who faced death in this sudden maritime accident. Please have mercy so that the hardened hearts between Pakistan and India may be softened through this event.

For 80 years India and Pakistan have been enemies, disputing over Kashmir. May this event become an opportunity for them to value human life above all else and to reconcile and cooperate with one another through the words of Jesus, who commanded us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

May the local churches in India and Pakistan trust in the God who looks upon broken and contrite hearts and pray for the end of the Kashmir conflict. Let them rise up only through Jesus and the gospel. May the churches in India and Pakistan raise leaders who govern with God’s truth for the sake of the people rather than for religious or regional interests.

For this purpose, may the global church boldly proclaim Christ’s love shown through the cross and His return, He who turns all death and sorrow into joy, for the shalom of India and Pakistan.

And may the Holy Spirit purify India and Pakistan, unite them in the joy of the salvation the Lord gives, and cause them to proclaim His love among all nations.
