Following Pakistan's recent renewed airstrikes on Afghanistan, which had reached a ceasefire following last year's armed conflict, fighting has erupted again along the border between the two countries.
Separately from the border clash, tensions are rising as a Pakistani armed group attacked local police twice on the same day, killing nine.
According to Reuters and EFE on the 25th (local time), Zabihullah Noorani, director of the Information and Culture Department in Nangarhar Province in eastern Afghanistan, stated that Pakistan fired the previous day and Taliban border guards responded.
He added that a brief exchange of fire occurred between the two countries as border guards responded, "The fighting ceased, and there were no casualties on our side."
However, Mosharraf Zaidi, spokesperson for foreign media at the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office, claimed on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that “the Afghan Taliban regime fired first at the border even though there was no provocation from our side.”
He emphasized, “Pakistani security forces responded immediately and effectively to stop the Taliban attack. Any further provocation will be met with immediate and serious action.”

As tensions rise again between the two countries, yesterday in Pakistan, an armed group that sparked last year’s clashes carried out two attacks on Pakistani police, killing nine.
Pakistani police reported that the armed group set fire to police vehicles or attacked checkpoints in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northeast Punjab, killing seven officers and two civilians, and injuring five.
The extremist group, the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), claimed responsibility for both attacks.

Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. (1 Corinthians 13:8)
We hear the tragic news that the Pakistani Taliban attacked their own police, killing nine, amid rising tensions after last year’s ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Lord, amidst the ongoing fighting, with conflicting claims, the sparks of tension and the continued damage from airstrikes, we entrust the entire situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan to You.
Grant the healing of Jesus to all victims and families who have lost lives or been injured, as the Taliban continue indiscriminate airstrikes under the banner of establishing a Sunni Islamic state, spreading their influence beyond Afghanistan into Pakistan.
May the strength of our Lord’s love be poured out upon the souls of Pakistan and Afghanistan, who are filled with fear and unable to relax their guard against unpredictable airstrikes.
Though prophecies, knowledge, and tongues may cease, let Your eternal love guide the global Church to serve the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan, proclaiming the Savior Jesus Christ of truth.
Empower the churches in Pakistan and Afghanistan to boldly proclaim the life-giving gospel to those blinded by Islam!
May Pakistan and Afghanistan unite to worship God as their sovereign ruler, and become a holy people following the Lamb as an army of the gospel!
