[Today’s Prayer] Myanmar civil war continues... More than 200 civilians killed after earthquake

The Myanmar people are suffering from the military junta that took power through a coup and the recent earthquake. It has been reported that fighting is taking place in various places between the military junta and the armed forces opposing it, and that damage from the earthquake is increasing.


that fighting is continuing even after the magnitude 7.7 earthquake on March 28. According to AFP , UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk announced in a statement on the 2nd that the military regime had attacked rebel-controlled areas at least 243 times, including 171 airstrikes, since the earthquake until April 29th. This killed more than 200 civilians.


In Myanmar, since the military coup on February 1, 2021, the Arakan Army ( AA ), the Ta’ang National Liberation Army ( TNLA ), the National Democratic Alliance Army ( MNDAA ), and other ethnic militaries, as well as the National Unity Government ( NUG ) Civil Defense Force ( PDF ) of the democratic camp, have formed an alliance to fight against the military regime.


Not only the alliance, but also the military regime declared a ceasefire (extension) after the earthquake. It is said that fighting continued in various places even after the ceasefire declarations on both sides.


Civilian casualties due to bombing continue. On April 28, two civilians were killed and many injured when military aircraft bombed a civilian hospital and school in Thichai Township, Sagaing Region.


There were also reports that three civilians were injured when military aircraft bombed villages in Mataya Township and Thong Ta Township, Mandalay Region.


The following day, on the 29th, the military arrested and killed seven people, including children, near a village in Won Taw Township, Sagaing Region, and the military drone-bombed a village in Bone Ve Township, Mandalay Region, killing a 19-year-old youth.


The MFDMC and local media reported that on May 2, the military shelled a village in Chay Taw Township with heavy weapons, wounding two civilians, that the military also bombed West Township, Magway Region, with two aircraft, and that many houses and buildings were destroyed by military bombings in Choeky Township, Bago Region.


Local media also reported that on the evening of April 30, armed forces of the Brotherhood attacked the military regime's air force base in Taungoo, Bago Region, with six 107mm rockets, and that early in the morning on the 30th , there was an attack on the Southern Military Command Center ( TPDC ) in Taungoo.

God, please allow the gospel of life in the land of Myanmar, that the people of Myanmar may be saved, that death and suffering may be taken away, and that they may be restored to a people who trust in You with the hope of heaven!


May the Myanmar military realize the love of Jesus Christ, who forgave sinners for sinners, and recognize the evil of their conscience, which they have wounded before the powers that be, and come to You with a clean heart!


May there be no more war in Myanmar, but a land that turns to one another in the love of the cross of Jesus, encouraging love and good works! May the Lord, the Prince of Peace, calm the anger and conflict in the land of Myanmar, raising up a land of peace and obedience to Your Word!


Comfort the bereaved families of Myanmar's victims of war, that they may rise up as Your people who have full faith in You, the One who conquered death, and who will triumph to the end!


Through the concern and prayers of the ASEAN and global churches, send forth a harvest of laborers who will share the gospel with the people of Myanmar who are groaning under the weight of civil war!

And let the Myanmar Church rise up in the land of Myanmar as a witness for the mission of salvation of the nations!


Send out 50,000 missionaries to Myanmar who will take Your mission as their life's work and fulfill the Great Commission for Your kingdom of righteousness and authority!


Let the season of Jesus Christ come quickly upon the land of Myanmar, that Myanmar may arise as the last golden-keyed nation in a missionary revival!
