[Today’s Prayer] Massive Landslide in Sudan, Suffering from Civil War and Famine… At Least 1,000 Dead 사망

ree

A landslide caused by heavy rains in Sudan, already suffering from prolonged civil war and famine, has killed more than 1,000 people, Reuters and AP reported on the 1st (local time).

The Sudan Liberation Army, a rebel group controlling the area, said that a village in the Marrah Mountains in western Sudan was swept away by the landslide the previous day, killing at least 1,000 people, with only one survivor found so far.

The group stated that the village had been completely erased, leaving only flat ground, and appealed to the UN and international relief organizations to assist with the recovery of bodies.

The victims were from North Darfur State in western Sudan, where government forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are clashing. They had fled to the Marrah Mountains to escape the civil war, only to face this tragedy.

In Sudan, where political instability is frequent, government forces and the RSF have been fighting a civil war in North Darfur for over 28 months, leaving residents in severe poverty and hunger.

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) warned on August 5th that thousands of households in Al-Fashir, besieged by rebels, are at risk of starvation, with around 40% of children under the age of 5 suffering from acute malnutrition.

24 Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression? 25 Our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body clings to the ground. 26 Rise up and help us; redeem us because of your unfailing love.(Psalm 44:24–26)

Lord, we have heard the heartbreaking news that in Sudan, already suffering from long years of civil war and famine, more than a thousand people have died in a landslide caused by heavy rains.

As the people of Sudan fled to the mountains to escape war, only to encounter a landslide there, the sorrow has deepened. Lord, look upon Sudan, where souls are bowed down to the dust and bodies cling to the ground in pain and suffering.

We proclaim that in Sudan—where civil war, famine, and now landslides leave no place for life to be safe—their only hope is Jesus Christ. Save Sudan by your unfailing love

.

Let the gospel of life be proclaimed in Sudan so that they may find peace and rest in Jesus.

Move the global church to help the Sudanese people so that through prayer and sacrifice they may be restored in the name of Jesus.

We believe that when Sudan rises up with the gospel, it will become a nation proclaiming the Lord’s victory over death! Let Sudan arise as a people who declare the name of God, exalted above every other name, among all nations!!
