[Today's Prayer] LPG Explosion in Pakistan Apartment... At least 16 Dead, Many Injured

In the Pakistani port city of Karachi, a gas explosion occurred in an apartment on the 19th, killing at least 16 people, including women and children, and injuring several others after part of the structure collapsed, according to police and rescue authorities.

The explosion happened in a residential area of Karachi, the capital of Sindh Province, while residents were preparing their pre-dawn meal on the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, said local police chief Rizwan Patel. He added that rescuers are clearing debris to search for survivors trapped underneath.

The death toll was initially reported as 13, but Patel stated it increased to 16 after three more bodies were recovered from the rubble.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari expressed grief and condolences to the families of the victims and instructed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured. He also ordered the swift completion of rescue operations and urged the Sindh provincial government to enforce building codes, conduct safety inspections of gas cylinders, and carry out a thorough investigation to prevent similar accidents.

In Karachi, as in other parts of Pakistan, natural gas for cooking is supplied to most houses and apartment buildings, but many households rely on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders due to low natural gas pressure.

In July last year, a gas explosion at a wedding reception in a house in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, killed eight people, including the bride and groom.

Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh." (Luke 6:20-21)

Lord, on the dawn that Ramadan begins, we hear the heartbreaking news from Pakistan that 16 people lost their lives in a gas explosion while preparing their pre-dawn meal.

First, please comfort the families of the souls who lost their lives. Protect them so that no further major accidents occur.

As Ramadan begins, Satan is attacking the souls of Pakistan even more, seeking to take their lives. Let all attacks of the enemy depart. During this period of Ramadan where the darkness has thickened, shine the light of God's salvation upon Pakistan.

Specifically, during this Ramadan period, let the local churches in Pakistan be awake and pray, and through the prayers of the local churches, let the Kingdom of God come upon Pakistan!

Thus, may all those in Pakistan who are poor and hungry come before Jesus, receive the Kingdom of God, and be born again as those who are satisfied with the joy of Jesus' salvation!
