The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 28th (local time) that the Lebanese government is using Israeli intelligence to disarm Hezbollah, a pro-Iran armed group in the south.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam told the WSJ that the Lebanese government has achieved about 80% of its goal of disarming Hezbollah in its southernmost region.

Lebanon took advantage of the weakening of Hezbollah's power after the ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel in November last year to elect pro-Western President Joseph Aoun early this year.
President Aoun later nominated Prime Minister Salam and said in his inauguration speech in January that the Lebanese government would have exclusive use of weapons in the future.
At the time of the ceasefire, Israel promised to withdraw all its troops from southern Lebanon within 60 days. Hezbollah would withdraw its troops north of the Litani River, and Lebanese government forces would station troops in the area.
The ceasefire agreement stipulated that Hezbollah disarmament should begin south of the Litani River.
According to senior officials, intelligence provided by the United States to Israel helped the Lebanese military locate and destroy Hezbollah’s remaining weapons caches and military bases in the south.
This allowed the Lebanese military to regain control of the area south of the Litani River, which had long been under Hezbollah control, and control the passages into and out of the area.
The Lebanese military said it had destroyed some of the weapons it had seized from Hezbollah and kept the usable ones to strengthen its own arsenal.
According to senior Lebanese security officials, Hezbollah has cooperated with disarmament efforts in the south and is said to have been forced to cede control of other areas, such as Beirut Airport.

However, it is unclear whether Hezbollah will cooperate with disarmament efforts in other areas.

Furthermore, Hezbollah’s decades of influence in Lebanon and its hundreds of thousands of supporters could pose a political risk for the Lebanese government in disarming the group.
Amid this, there is growing anxiety in Lebanon about what will happen if Hezbollah refuses to disarm in the area north of the Litani River, and Lebanese want to avoid a civil war like in the past, the WSJ reported, citing officials.

O Lord Jehovah, you have begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty power. For what god in heaven or on earth can do what you have done, your mighty power? Please let me cross over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, the goodly mountain range, and Lebanon.” (Deut. 3:24-25)
We hear good news that the Lebanese government forces have achieved about 80% of the disarmament of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon by receiving information from Israel.
While it is still uncertain whether Hezbollah in other regions will cooperate in the disarmament, we pray that the Lord will show His might in Lebanon and make everything prosperous.
May the Holy Spirit meet the Lebanese young people so that they can find peace in Christ Jesus that they could not find through politics and Islamic law, and may the Lebanese souls who fear that Hezbollah will not respond to the dissolution and will spread to civil war, be filled with the hope of the Kingdom of God.
May God’s power and rule be established in the beautiful Lebanese region that Moses saw, and may Hezbollah’s young people who have staked their lives on Hezbollah receive the true gospel and the grace of salvation through the Lebanese church.
May Lebanon and Israel work closely together for this work, and may the churches first cooperate and work hard to turn the hearts of the youth to the Lord. May the pain of losing precious people to guns and swords be washed away by the blood of Jesus’ cross, and may they welcome the Lord who leads them to eternal love and life.
May the peace that the world cannot give come to Lebanon, and may they become a nation that can play the role of the key to heaven that opens the closed doors of Arabs and the nations!
