[Today's Prayer] Israel, Lebanon airstrikes... Biggest attack since Gaza war

As Israel launched its heaviest attack on Lebanon since the start of the Gaza war, concerns are growing that the war may expand. Israel also suspended ceasefire negotiations with Hamas, which were being carried out through diplomatic efforts by the international community.

On the 14th (local time), according to the New York Times (NYT) and other sources, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they "conducted extensive airstrikes against a series of terrorist targets, including Hezbollah compounds and operational control rooms." Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that three civilians were killed in the Israeli attack.

Lebanese state media reported that four members of the same family were killed in an Israeli airstrike that knocked part of a building in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, that night. Nabatieh authorities announced that schools and government institutions were to close on the 15th due to the intensified attacks.

Since the war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7 last year, Hezbollah has been fighting against the Israeli army along the border, in support of Palestine. The Israeli airstrikes are the largest since the start of the war.

This airstrike followed an attack on homes and an IDF base with rockets fired from Lebanon at the town of Safed in northern Israel that morning. The Israeli side pointed to Lebanese Hezbollah as the mastermind behind the attack, saying one person was killed and at least eight injured.

Israel, which has focused on eliminating Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has recently increased its level of response, including targeting high-ranking Hezbollah commanders with airstrikes as Hezbollah's involvement in the war has intensified.

“This is not the time to stop attacking Hezbollah,” said IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, warning that “there is still a long way to go.”

Hezbollah is also responding aggressively. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah claimed the previous day, “If Israel increases the level of attacks, we will also escalate.”

"And you are Christ's, and Christ is God's." (1 Corinthians 3:23)

The true savior of the people of Israel and Lebanon, Lord, we pray as we see the sad situation of the conflict between these two nations growing bigger and bigger.

We believe that the only way to bring true peace between Israel and Lebanon is through you alone.

Lord, please have mercy on these two nations. In front of the cross of Jesus, may this conflict that causes them to kill and rage against one another come to an end.

These two nations belong to Christ. Lord, please help them regain their identity as children of God, please allow them to know and enjoy your love. Bring an end to their futile conflict and suffering. Let them come before you!
