After Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, military conflict between the two nations has entered its second day.
According to Reuters, AFP, and The Times of Israel on the 14th (local time), the Israeli military announced that it had carried out successive airstrikes overnight in the Tehran region, targeting Iran’s air defense systems.
In a statement, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) said, “As part of efforts to destroy the Iranian regime's air defense system in the Tehran region, the IAF struck dozens of targets, including surface-to-air missile sites.”
They further noted, “This marks the first time since the outbreak of war that we have struck air defense systems over 1,500 km away from Israeli territory in the Tehran region.”
Iranian state media also reported that “Islamic armed forces (Iranian military) in the Salmas border region successfully shot down an Israeli drone that violated Iranian airspace.” They added, “The drone entered Iranian airspace for reconnaissance purposes.”
The U.S. military has also stepped in to assist Israel in intercepting Iranian missiles. A U.S. military official told Reuters that the current interception efforts are being carried out via ground-based systems and that fighter jets and warships have not yet been deployed.
Israel had launched a sudden airstrike against Iran's nuclear facilities the previous day. In retaliation, Iran is believed to have fired hundreds of ballistic missiles toward Israel.
This counterattack came immediately after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a televised address that “The Islamic Republic will defeat the Zionist regime.”

“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.” — Psalm 107:28–30
We hear the reports that military clashes between Israel and Iran have continued for a second day following Israel’s surprise strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, with airstrikes even reaching the Tehran region. The Israeli Air Force has focused its attacks on Iran’s air defense and surface-to-air missile systems, while Iran has responded by shooting down Israeli drones and preparing for further retaliation. The situation continues to escalate.
Lord, may Israel turn away from relying on military strength and strategy to protect itself, and return to You for help. And may Iran, walking down the path of hatred and vengeance, turn its heart to the Lord of life, and forgive the nation that has become its enemy.
Upon this terrible reality where countless civilians in both Israel and Iran suffer as their lives, families, and daily peace are shattered by bombs and missiles—let Your comfort descend. Especially through the local churches and believers in Iran, may the comfort of God and the hope of the gospel spread. May the command of the Lord—that all nations are brothers before the gospel and that even enemies must be loved—reach the souls of Iran.
Let the churches in Israel and Iran rise above national division and share the heart of God. Let them pray for one another and become bridges of peace. May the global Church walk with the Lord who mediates this conflict and stand as agents of reconciliation in this land through the gospel.
Lord, in suffering, only You are our refuge. Let the churches in Israel and Iran lift up every pain and hardship to You in prayer. Let them confess all things to You, their refuge. And in doing so, may both Israel and Iran behold the face of our Lord and sing praise to Yeshua, our eternal King and true peace-giver.
Jesus, only You are our peace and the true King who came to save all nations. May Israel and Iran be united in You and rise as nations that proclaim the light of the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Raise up the remnant in Israel and Iran! Let the remnant arise and proclaim Your gospel among all nations, until the day all peoples stand before You, Lord!
