[Today’s Prayer] Israel: Body of missing rabbi found in UAE… Anti-Semitic terror attack

The Jerusalem Post and other media outlets reported on the 24th (local time) that Israeli Rabbi Zvi Kogan, who went missing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was found dead.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office and the Foreign Ministry said in a joint statement this morning that Kogan's body had been found and that "this murder was a criminal anti-Semitic terrorist attack."

He also stressed that "Israel will use all means at its disposal to bring his killers to justice."

Israel's foreign intelligence agency Mossad and UAE authorities have launched an investigation into Kogan's death.

Kogan, a member of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect Kabad Lubavitch and dual citizen of Israel and Moldova who had been serving in the UAE, went missing three days ago on the afternoon of the 21st.

According to Israeli media outlet Ynet, Israeli intelligence suspects that three Uzbek operatives killed Kogan while he was visiting a grocery store and then fled to Turkey, and that Iran may have been monitoring Kogan's movements.

On that day, Israeli authorities urged its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the UAE and advised them to "be vigilant in public places and refrain from displaying Israeli symbols."

David built an altar to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He called on the Lord, and the Lord answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering. (! Chronicles 21:26)

God, We hear the sad news of an anti-Semitic attack in the UAE. As the fighting between Israel and Hamas continues, Jews scattered around the world are wary of their surroundings and fearful that they may be attacked.

God, we trust that the souls of Israel are seeking You right now in fear. Just as when David cried out to You, You responded by accepting David's offering and saved the people of Israel, we pray that You will save every Israeli soul who cries out to You in fear at this time.

As Israel seeks you, tell them how much you love them, so that they may know the love of you giving you your only Son, Jesus Christ, and that they may now return to the Father’s arm.

Cover all their wounds and hurts with your love, so that they will no longer dwell in death but will have everlasting life, and raise them up as disciples to serve all nations.
