[Today's Prayer] "Islamic militant group kills 10,000 Nigerian Christians in 2 years"

It has been revealed that over 10,000 Nigerian Christians have been killed by Islamic extremist groups in the past 2 years.
According to the Christian Post (CP), the US non-profit organization Global Christian Relief (GCR), which monitors Christian persecution around the world, recently announced in its report, "2025 Global Christian Persecution Red List," that "approximately 9,814 Nigerian Christians were killed by Boko Haram and other Islamic extremist groups from November 2022 to November 2024."
GCR focused on the 25 countries with the most severe Christian persecution across several categories, including murder, attacks on buildings, arrests, displacement, kidnapping, and assault. Among them, Nigeria ranked first in murder, kidnapping, and assault.
“Most of the killings were concentrated in the northern ‘Sharia State’, where Christians often live in remote villages in the semi-arid region, making them particularly vulnerable to attacks,” the report said.
“Despite government assurances that extremists will be eliminated, violence continues to escalate. Nigeria’s grim statistics are unparalleled,” it added.
In addition to Boko Haram, Nigerian Christians are also targeted by Fulani herdsmen and the West African branch of the Islamic State. In addition to massacring Christians, the violent groups kidnap believers, further fueling fear and insecurity.
Compared to other countries where Christians are persecuted, such as Mexico and Haiti, Nigeria’s kidnapping and assault cases (9,311) were thousands more.
“The kidnappings are a clear and systematic attack designed to steal money and women from the Christian community,” the GCR said. “Church leaders and pastors are targets because they can raise large sums of money to secure their release. Young women are also often kidnapped to be brides for jihadists.”
The report included the story of a woman who lost her father and her eyesight in an attack by an Islamic extremist group, and a prayer for Christians in Nigeria.
The armed group Boko Haram shot Susan in the head and killed her father while she was out working in the fields. Susan, who survived but lost her eyesight, said she was praying that the group that attacked her would one day accept Jesus.

“Despite the extreme hardships in places like Nigeria, China and India, we continue to see remarkable resilience in these communities. Even in the darkest of circumstances, the church is not only surviving, but growing stronger. Millions are choosing to follow Jesus, despite the dangers they face,” the report said.
He also recommended to the US President and Secretary of State that "the US should designate Nigeria as a 'country of particular concern' for allowing the mass killing of Christians. It should also impose targeted sanctions on Nigerian officials." Source: Daily Good News

The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke to me and swore to me, ‘To your offspring I will give this land,’ he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there. (Genesis 24:7)
Father God, who wants all nations to be saved and know the truth, we praise the Lord who rules over all nations today.
In the past two years, we have heard the sad news that over 10,000 Christians in Nigeria have lost their lives to Islamic extremist groups.
Please watch over the Nigerian church, where murders, kidnappings, and assaults against Christians continue, like the apple of your eye, and protect them under the shadow of your wings.
Just as Jehovah God called Abraham away from his home and native land, promised to give him a land, and sent an angel ahead of him to prepare, may the Nigerian church follow only the Lord. May the Lord grant all the grace He has prepared.
Sister Susan, who lost her father and eyesight to an Islamic extremist group, is praying that the Islamic militant group that attacked her will accept Jesus someday.
As God forgives our sins in Christ, may disciples who follow Jesus alone arise in Nigeria through Sister Susan, who is praying for forgiveness for the Islamic militant group that killed her father and attacked her!
In this way, may Nigeria become a nation that proclaims the kingdom of God and serves Africa and all nations with the power of the Holy Spirit!
