[Today’s Prayer] Is the ceasefire collapsing… 20 killed in two bombings in one day in the capitals of India and Pakistan

ree

Bomb attacks occurred one after another in India and Pakistan, countries that share a border and have long been rivals, and in just one day tensions are rising again between the two nations, which had barely maintained a ceasefire since their armed clash in May.

According to Bloomberg News and others on the 12th (local time), at around 6:52 p.m. on the 10th, a vehicle exploded near the famous Red Fort heritage site in Delhi, India. Eight people were killed and 20 were injured.

Indian police said they are investigating three doctors from Kashmir under the anti-terrorism law in connection with the incident. They announced that these individuals were linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), an Islamic militant group based in Pakistan. JeM carried out a suicide bombing in 2019 in Pulwama, Indian-controlled Kashmir, killing over 40 Indian police officers.

The next day, on the 11th, a bomb attack occurred near the main gate of a district court in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, killing 12 people and injuring 27.

Pakistani authorities identified the separatist militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as being behind the attack. The Pakistani prime minister’s office issued a statement criticizing India and Afghanistan, with whom Pakistan has had armed clashes this year. It claimed that India is supporting terrorist attacks against Pakistan from Afghan territory.

Muhammad Saeed, a former Pakistani general, criticized India and Afghanistan, saying, “The terrorists are being supported by a giant country (India).” He added, “Another country (Afghanistan) is giving them space.”

In response, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, issued a statement saying Pakistan’s claims were “baseless and absurd,” adding that Pakistan’s leadership was “clearly in a state of delusion.”

Regarding the series of bombings, Subir Sinha, director of the South Asia Institute at the University of London, said the likelihood of another clash between the two countries is rising.

He said, “Even though the previous military operation against Pakistan had only limited success, most Indians believe it was overwhelmingly successful,” adding, “Many Indians want another conflict.”

In April, after a shooting attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir killed 26 people, including tourists, India and Pakistan exchanged missile attacks in May. Kashmir is a disputed territory between the two countries. India governs the Kashmir Valley and Jammu, while Pakistan effectively controls the western part of Kashmir. India blamed Pakistan for the Kashmir attack at the time, but Pakistan denied the accusation. The two sides agreed to a ceasefire three days after the missile clash, but analysts say tensions are rising again due to the unexpected bombings.

He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them (Psalm 145:19)

God, we hear news that a series of bombings in India and Pakistan has caused tensions to rise again between the two nations that were maintaining a ceasefire.

Have mercy on the peoples of India and Pakistan, who must be engulfed in fear, anxiety, and tension due to unexpected bomb attacks by Islamic militant groups amid longstanding religious and territorial conflicts.

Let the young people who have devoted themselves to Islamic militant groups that devote their lives to false Islam realize their wrongdoing. Stop all terror and pour peace upon India and Pakistan in the name of Jesus.

Send many people to India and Pakistan — who are bound by false idols — to proclaim Jesus Christ, the only Savior.

Lead the local churches, who are keeping their faith despite persecution, with strength and courage, so they become churches that fear only the Lord.

May the global church and local churches unite together to bear the long conflict of India and Pakistan, and when they cry out to You, pour out Your salvation abundantly.

Let the unity of the churches in India and Pakistan defeat the powers of darkness holding the nations and rise up in unity across the world.

May the one million churches of India that will spread the joy of salvation to all nations, and the FM 1% Pakistani church that will rise boldly as the final weapon of the gospel, prepare together for the Lord’s return.
