Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, stated that Iran has never refused talks with the United States mediated by Pakistan.
On the 4th (local time), Minister Araghchi wrote on X that “U.S. media is mistranslating Iran’s position,” adding, “We are deeply grateful for Pakistan’s efforts and have never refused to go to Islamabad (Pakistan’s capital).”
He continued, emphasizing that “our only concern is what conditions are required to ‘decisively and permanently END’ this illegal war of aggression imposed on us.”
In particular, by capitalizing the word “END,” he reaffirmed Iran’s position that it is not seeking a temporary ceasefire, but a complete end to the war and prevention of its recurrence.
His remarks are interpreted as not directly expressing willingness to engage in negotiations with the United States, but rather emphasizing that while a diplomatic solution is assumed, conditions for ending the war—such as preventing future conflict, compensation for damages, and recognition of control over the Strait of Hormuz—must be accepted.

The New York Times also reported the previous day that U.S. intelligence agencies believe Iran currently has no intention of participating in ceasefire negotiations.
Although negotiations are facing difficulties, countries such as Turkey and Egypt are also reportedly participating in mediation efforts to find a breakthrough.

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You. (Psalm 9:9–10)
Heavenly Father, we hear that Iran’s foreign minister, Araghchi, has not refused talks with the United States mediated by Pakistan, yet negotiations remain difficult as Iran demands conditions such as preventing future war, compensation for damages, and recognition of control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Lord, in this situation where many nations are stepping in to mediate and resolve the war between Iran and Israel, we ask that You personally work and guide the process so that the best possible solution—one in which both sides can acknowledge each other and reach compromise—may come forth.
Restore the relationship between Iran and Israel, Lord, so that the war may come to an end. Heal the souls who have been wounded and are suffering because of the war with Your compassion. Be a refuge for the oppressed and a shelter in times of trouble, and lead the people of Iran and Israel to trust in Your name and seek You, experiencing Your grace that never abandons them.
Lord, sustain the churches in Iran and Israel. Even in fear, let them not lose faith, but stand firmly on the foundation of the gospel and become channels of blessing that share love and the gospel with suffering neighbors.
Let the global church not turn away from this, but come together in unity to pray for Iran and Israel. As they pray, pour out the Father’s heart so that they may go forth to Iran and Israel with the gospel.
And let Iran and Israel, where the gospel rises in power, now be united by the cross and rise up as those who run to all nations with the gospel, preparing the way for the return of Jesus Christ.
