[Today’s Prayer] Hezbollah attacks Israeli military convoy... 1 Israeli civilian killed

Hezbollah, a Lebanese armed group, fired anti-tank missiles and shells at an Israeli military convoy in a disputed border area, killing one Israeli civilian. Hezbollah and the Israeli military announced this on the 26th.

Hezbollah said its fighters ambushed the convoy just before midnight on the 26th and destroyed two vehicles.

The Israeli military said one Israeli civilian working on infrastructure was killed in the ambush.

The incident occurred in a disputed area known as Kfar Chouba Hill in Lebanon and Har Dov in Israel. This area was occupied by Israel from Syria during the 1967 Middle East War, and is part of the Syrian Golan Heights, which Israel annexed in 1981. The Lebanese government claims that this place belongs to Lebanon.

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in almost daily gunfights along the border since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip in October last year. Hezbollah is in solidarity with the Palestinian armed group Hamas.

Israel has targeted senior Hezbollah militants in recent months, raising concerns that fighting will continue to intensify.

Tens of thousands of people were displaced on both sides of the border. In Israel, 10 civilians and 12 soldiers were killed in cross-border fighting, and in Lebanon, about 350 people, including 50 civilians and 271 Hezbollah members, were killed.
