[Today's Prayer] Erdogan tells Syrian rebels “the target is Damascus”

President Tayyip Erdogan Turkiye has issued a message of support for Syrian rebels who are expanding their holdings in the country.

“So far, it has been Idlib, Hama and Homs, and of course, the goal is Damascus,” Erdogan told reporters after attending Friday prayers in Istanbul, according to local daily Sabah, ‘I hope they continue to advance without any accidents or disasters,’ he said.

He reaffirmed his support for the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-led Syrian opposition.

Erdoğan also referred to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, saying, “I called him and said, ‘Let's discuss the future of Syria together,’ but I didn't get a positive answer.”

Turkiye has supported some rebel groups in the Syrian civil war that broke out in 2011.

He has also been at odds with the Assad regime over military action on the northwestern border with Syria to crack down on the Kurdish separatist militant Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which he has labeled a terrorist organization.

In the context of the war in Syria, the Turkiyeh nation is talking about helping in the war. We see that there is no good in helping the war because they are trying to push out the minorities in their own country.

Syria did not respond positively to Turkiye's offer to help fight the war in the first place. I believe that God heard the prayers of the people, protected the minorities, and stopped another war.

They are trusting God for revival in a turbulent world and for compassion for the people of Israel.

The church in Turkiye is in a difficult economic situation and the church in Syria is in a difficult situation due to the worsening war. Please give them the faith of a grain of mustard seed so that they can be confessors who look to God and dream of revival even when they have nothing else to rely on.

Hear the prayers of the Church of Turkiye and the Church of Syria and have compassion on these two peoples. Although the peoples hate and oppose each other, we believe that when the Church of Turkestan and the Church of Syria unite in prayer, You will take control of all wars and situations.

We believe that You will bring about a wonderful history and revival among the Turkiye and Syria in the coming years! Arise, Church of Turkiye and Church of Syria, as a reviving people!
