[Today’s Prayer] 'Declaration of Victory' Signs of Internal Strife in Syrian Rebels… Already Independent Military Action
Syrian rebels led by the Islamic militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham ( HTS ) occupied the capital Damascus on the 8th (local time) and ousted President Bashar al-Assad, but internal chaos is expected to continue.
This is because, in addition to HTS, the rebels include various factions with different roots, such as democratic forces, Kurdish militias, and Islamic extremist groups, and there are also groups with conflicting interests.
There are already signs of internal power struggles for control as the “official” Assad regime fades away.
According to Reuters, the Syrian Interim Government ( SIG ) Ministry of Defense posted a message on X ( formerly Twitter) that day, saying that it had begun an attack on Kurdish armed forces in the northern Syrian town of Manbij.
SIG is an organization established by the Syrian National Congress ( SNC ), an anti-government coalition, in 2013, immediately after the outbreak of the Syrian civil war .
From day one of the fall of the Assad regime, the major rebel groups have been acting on their own.
The previous day, HTS had stated that it had a "duty to protect the Syrian government, international organizations, and UN offices," seemingly keeping in mind the process of transferring power, but in reality, friction has been occurring in various places since the rebels entered Damascus.
Iraq's state-run INA news agency reported that Iraqi embassy staff in Syria evacuated to neighboring Lebanon as the situation in Damascus became unstable.
Israel, which borders Syria, announced that it had deployed military forces to the "buffer zone" in the Golan Heights area along the northern border. The Times of Israel noted that this is the first time Israeli troops have entered Syrian territory in 50 years since 1974.
The Israeli military emphasized that it “will not interfere in the internal situation in Syria,” but that it “will continue to conduct necessary operations to protect the buffer zone and defend Israel and its people.”

Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for[a] Jesus Christ: Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. (Jude 1:1-2)
Amen! God, we hear that Syrian rebels have driven out the Assad regime, but that an uprising for power has begun. We lift up Syria, still in the midst of suffering, into your hands.
You have called Syria to be your children, to be loved by your Heavenly Father and kept for Jesus Christ.
Whatever the future holds, we ask that you protect the souls of Syria and the stump-like churches that remain faithful in Syria, and that you pour out your mercy, peace, and love upon them.
Remember the vision you have given us in Syria, and let us endure these times to the end. May the Syrian people rise up as a blessing in the world, a people who turn all nations to You!
Attacks have been launched specifically against Kurdish militants. May the Lord touch the Kurdish people's pain and wipe away their tears, and may the Kurdish people not seek the kingdoms of this world, but lift up their eyes to possess the eternal kingdom of God.
Rather, let the Kurdish diaspora scattered among the nations hear the gospel at this time, and let them rise up as a nation that will follow the revival of Persia and cause the revival of the nations!
