Recently, amid the growing attention within China, with anti-China media outlets overseas raising the issue of Chinese President Xi Jinping's power abnormality, China is drawing attention by replacing ethnic minority leaders one after another.
According to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency and Hong Kong's Ming Pao on the 3rd, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to no longer have Ma Xingrui (65), a member of the Central Politburo, concurrently serve as the Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and instead appointed Chen Xiaozhang (63), the Standing Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department, as the Party Secretary.
Accordingly, the new Party Secretary Chen is expected to become a member of the Politburo after the 21st National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2027, as is customary.
Secretary Chen is from Zhejiang Province and graduated from Wuhan Institute of Hydraulic Power (now Wuhan University, School of Engineering). After serving as the president of China Hydraulics and Power Institute and director of the General Office of the Hydraulics Department, he was appointed as the secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection in 2016.
After being appointed as deputy secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection the following year, Secretary Chen was appointed as the director of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission in 2020 and the standing vice-minister of the United Front Work Department in 2022. He is currently a member of the 20th Central Committee of the Party.
The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is a region that the Chinese government has been sensitive to in the past due to separatist movements and other issues.
Ma Xingrui, who was dismissed this time, is known to have been promoted since the Xi Jinping Presidency came to power, so the background of this personnel change is also drawing attention. Regarding this, the news agency reported that "Comrade Ma is expected to be appointed separately."
In addition, the Central Committee of the Party appointed Wei Tao (55), the secretary of Taiyuan City in Shaanxi Province, as the deputy secretary of the Southern Guangxi Guangxi Autonomous Region. Wei, the new secretary, will concurrently serve as the party committee secretary and the government chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is known as a major source of rare earth elements.

Give thanks to him who remembered us in our lowly state, for his love endures forever; who delivered us from our enemies, for his love endures forever (Psalm 136:23-24)
While rumors are being raised by overseas anti-China media outlets that Chinese President Xi Jinping's power is in jeopardy, we hear news that China has replaced the leadership of ethnic minorities one after another.
Some speculate that this is a move to strengthen political control by refreshing the atmosphere in a large and politically important minority-dense area. May the Lord quickly repay the Chinese government’s behavior of still trying to control the Uyghurs and other minorities.
Just as the Lord led Israel out after 400 years of slavery in Egypt, only the Lord can save the Uyghurs from the Chinese government’s oppression.
Although the Uyghurs and other Chinese minorities seem to be in a lowly state now, may the Lord remember and show mercy to each nation and soul, so that no enemy can be an obstacle to salvation through the gospel.
For this work, may the Chinese church continue to advance the gospel further and unite with minority Christians to send out a million troops to expand the kingdom of God.
May the global church become a refuge for ethnic minorities inside and outside of China, and may they spread the gospel and grow in the word so that the ethnic minority communities can be built into the temple of Christ.
In this way, may the ethnic minorities in China, including the Uyghurs, establish their identity as children of God who is the King, and become the people of God's kingdom who boldly proclaim salvation to the nations despite any difficulties in the world!
