At least 8 people were killed and 18 injured in a bomb attack at a mosque in the Wadi al-Da'hab area of Homs, Syria on the 26th (local time).
According to AP, the attack occurred in a mosque in the Wadi al-Da'hab area, where the Alawite minority sect resides. When the bomb exploded during the prayer, the windows of the mosque were shattered and the interior furnishings were severely damaged.
The Syrian state-run SANA news agency reported that the explosive device was likely installed inside the mosque, citing a security official.
The Syrian interim government agreed to cooperate with the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS led by the United States to eradicate ISIS last month.
Meanwhile, the Saraya Ahl al-Sunna faction, a splinter group of ISIS, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on a Telegram channel. This group was also implicated in the terrorist attack on a church in the capital, Damascus, last June.

Syria has been in turmoil since the overthrow of the dictatorial regime of Bashar al-Assad last year, but internal conflicts and divisions between ethnic and sectarian groups continue unabated.
Especially since the ouster of former President Assad, who is of the Alawite sect, the Alawites have been protesting that they are being oppressed.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts: In every place where there is a sun, and in every place where there is a moon, I will make my name great, and I will make an offering of incense to my name, and I will accept the sacrifice of purity: for my name shall be great among the Gentiles, saith the LORD of hosts. (Mal 1:11)
Father God, we hear the distressing news that at least 8 people were killed and 18 injured in a bomb attack at a mosque in the Wadi al-Da'hab area of Homs, Syria during a prayer service.
Seeing the situation of the bomb attack in the area where the Alawite minority sect resides, we realize that the deepening sectarian tensions since the collapse of the Assad regime continue to shake Syria.
Lord, comfort the souls of those who have lost their family members in the terrorist attack, and heal the bodies and minds of the injured with the hand of Jesus Christ, so that they may recover quickly.
Lord, pour your fearless heart into the interim government of Syria and all future governing structures, so that power will not become a tool of sectarian domination and retaliation, and that holy justice protecting all lives will be established in Syria. Dismantle all armed organizations and extremist structures in Syria, and establish a governance based on protecting life and responsibility.
Lord, hold onto the churches in Syria. Do not retreat in fear, but go out to the wounded neighbors with the love and words of Christ.
May the Arab churches and the global church also come together in prayer and service for the recovery of Syria, and proclaim the love of Christ to all corners of Syria.
May the Syrian people rise again with the love of Jesus Christ, and exalt the name of the Lord among all nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun, becoming a holy priestly people.
