According to a government statement, more than 1,000 tourists are isolated in Sikkim, a state in the Himalayas, and rescue operations are currently underway. In Meghalaya, military rescue teams have been deployed to rescue about 500 residents isolated by floods.

In neighboring Bangladesh, more than four members of a family have died in a landslide in the northeastern Sylhet district, and hundreds of shelters have been set up in mountainous areas such as Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachari.

Landslides and torrential floods occur every year in northeastern India and Bangladesh.

Indian government authorities have warned people living in high-risk areas to be extra cautious, warning of more landslides and torrential floods.

Footage released by Indian media outlet ANI shows roads and houses in Silchar, Assam, submerged and trees lying scattered along the roads.

"We are going through a lot of trouble. I have a child and his bed is submerged. What can we do in this situation? We have no choice but to stay up all night," Sonu Devi, a Silchar resident, told ANI.

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. You return man to dust and say, “Return, O children of man!”For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night. You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning.” (Psalm 90:2-5)

We hear urgent news that at least 34 people have died due to four days of torrential rains and landslides in northeastern India, and more than 1,000 tourists who came to see the Himalayas and 500 residents of Meghalaya are stranded and rescue operations are underway.

In addition, as we hear saddening news of a family dying in a landslide in Bangladesh, we pray that before the mountain that God created is built up, the Lord God alone who is God from eternity to eternity, and His mercy will be with those who help India and Bangladesh, so that the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in the sudden floods and landslides can be comforted and the injured can be quickly treated.

We believe that even though we are just dust, He gives us the opportunity to hear the gospel and leads us to the grace of the kingdom of God that is beyond life.

Please have mercy on the isolated tourists and the souls of India and Bangladesh and grant them another chance to live so that they may receive the gospel of the cross of Jesus, which is the only truth.

Let the Indian and Bangladeshi churches take the lead in serving the affected areas and go out to rescue efforts with the gospel, and let the global church provide material and pray so that the flood will quickly subside, and may the strength to rebuild the collapsed houses be planted in the souls of India and Bangladesh.

Therefore, let the people of India and Bangladesh gain new strength and be established as churches, and let them send out 1 million missionaries to the nations!
