[Today's Prayer] Armed Terrorist Attack in Karachi, Pakistan... 8 Killed After Gun Battle

Eight people were killed in Pakistan after an attack carried out by an armed group affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), including five militants and three members of the government's paramilitary forces.

According to police authorities in Karachi, Sindh Province, on the 28th (local time), armed militants drove a vehicle loaded with explosives into the headquarters of the paramilitary Rangers in Karachi on the previous night before opening fire, resulting in an intense gun battle. Authorities reported that five militants were killed, along with three Rangers personnel.

Later, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), a faction of the TTP, claimed responsibility for the attack.

This was the largest attack in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, since the October 2024 bombing on a highway near Karachi International Airport that killed two Chinese nationals.

Pakistan has experienced repeated attacks by the TTP and its affiliated groups, particularly in the northern border regions adjacent to Afghanistan, resulting in many casualties.

Pakistan has accused the TTP of carrying out attacks under the protection of the Afghan Taliban government and has frequently launched airstrikes and other attacks against TTP bases inside Afghanistan. Afghanistan has protested these actions, and the two countries have repeatedly engaged in armed clashes along their shared border.

God, we ask that You would comfort the families of the Rangers personnel who lost their lives in this terrorist attack. Lord, have mercy on the people living in Pakistan's border regions who continue to live under the constant threat of attacks by the TTP and its affiliated groups.

When the people living in these troubled border regions cry out to You in their distress, may Jesus answer them with His saving hand. We pray that the lying lips and deceitful tongue that deceive Pakistan and Afghanistan through the Taliban regime and Islam would be consumed by Your arrows and Your fire.

May the churches in Pakistan and Afghanistan become churches that proclaim Jesus, who delivers people from death, even amid persecution by the Taliban regime. Raise them up with the mission of proclaiming Jesus, who answers those who cry out to Him in times of trouble, so that Pakistan and Afghanistan may be set free from Islam, which is described as the lying lips and deceitful tongue.

May the global Church earnestly pray for peace and stability in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and send workers filled with passion for the gospel so that all the peoples of both nations may come under the reign of Jesus Christ.
