[Today's Prayer] Armed Forces Attack Police Station in Iran... "6 People Dead"

A police station in southern Iran was attacked by an armed group, resulting in the deaths of at least six people, including two police officers.

State broadcaster IRIB reported on the 8th (local time) that clashes between the police and armed forces occurred in the city of Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchistan province, where two police officers and four terrorists were reported to have died.

Alireza Marhamati, deputy head of security for Sistan-Baluchistan province, explained, "The 16th police station in Zahedan was attacked by four armed criminals. They attacked the police with rifles and grenades."

He added, "Although two police officers were killed in the confrontation, all four criminals were subdued, and we are currently identifying their identities."

Sistan-Baluchistan province is home to approximately 2 million ethnic Sunni Baloch people, making it the poorest region in Iran.

In this region, clashes between armed Sunni groups, separatist organizations, drug trafficking gangs, and Iranian government forces are frequent.

Last year, during the ongoing 'Hijab protests,' this area witnessed the most intense clashes between demonstrators and security forces.
