[Today's Prayer] Another 16 civilians killed in airstrikes and shelling in Omdurman, Sudan

A Sudanese civilian resistance group announced that another 16 civilians were killed in airstrikes and shelling in Omdurman on the 25th (local time), a city west of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

According to the Associated Press, a private youth organization, going by the name of the "Ombada Resistance Committee,” issued a statemement that “Civilians in the area around the city of Ombada have again lost their lives due to this senseless war.”

The bombing also resulted in many other casualties in downtown Souk Libya (Libyan Market), the statement said.

Meanwhile, the United Nations also issued a statement on the same day, saying that the civil war situation in Sudan is now heading towards complete catastrophe.

“Yesterday marked the 100th day of the civil war in Sudan. The crisis in Sudan is now reaching the climax of a complete catastrophe as it escalates into an extreme humanitarian crisis,” Clementine Nkweta-Salami, UN Special Envoy for Sudan Relief, announced on the 25th.

He said that although the situation of the civil war is becoming very difficult, the UN's relief efforts for the people of Sudan will continue. In particular, the UN staff, including aid workers, also said that the violence and attacks of war are unavoidable, stating that since the civil war in Sudan began, 18 aid workers have already lost their lives and many more have been injured.

Aid facilities in the United Nations were also attacked. So far, more than 50 warehouses for humanitarian aid have been looted and 82 offices have been robbed and cleared out, he said.

According to Sudan's Ministry of Health statistics, more than 3,000 people have been killed and 6,000 injured since the government forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF), started fighting on April 15.

And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. (Mark 9:26-27)

Heavenly Father who loves all nations,

The civil war in Sudan is already in its 100th day, and it is reaching the peak of catastrophe amid the worsening crisis.

In addition, 16 civilians were killed in airstrikes and shelling, and news of the deaths of aid workers continues.

When we look at the situation surrounding Sudan, although it seems as if there is endless turmoil and is filled with news of death, we believe that if Jesus takes them by the hand and lifts them up, they will be restored with news of life.

Upon this land that is dark and hopeless due to the ongoing civil war, may you shine the light of life.

Pour out faith into the souls in Sudan that they may look to God in hope even in the midst of hopelessness.

May the beautiful steps of preaching the gospel begin in this land, so that the gospel may be testified faster than death.

Let the power of death, which rules this land, be cast out, and may Jesus, the King of Peace, reign over this land.
