[Today's Prayer] Al-Shabaab accused of killing 6 Christians in Somalia

On March 29, militants belonging to the Islamic extremist al-Shabaab killed six Kenyan Christian traders in the Somali border town of Dobli.

The assailants reportedly attacked in a building rented by merchants, and the victims were reportedly shot dead at close range.

Kenya's Liboi County Deputy Commissioner Ali Manduku confirmed that "six Kenyans have been killed by suspected al-Shabab militants." Their bodies were reportedly moved to a morgue in Garissa County, Kenya.

One survivor said, “Around 7 a.m., a car pulled up near a merchant’s store and four hooded men opened fire, killing four merchants immediately and two later.” The assailants also set fire to the store.

“Six secret Christians have been selling plastic cutlery and other household items in Dobli, Juba district, southern Somalia, for six years,” a Christian leader from northern Kenya recently told Morning Star News. “Our brothers are trying to save their families.” “Not only did I run a business to support myself, but I also spread the love of Jesus Christ to the Muslims of Dhobli.”

He said, “Recently, two members of our church reported that several Muslims were attending evening prayers. “Al-Shabaab may have killed them for spreading Christianity in the area.”

Somalia ranked second on the 2024 list of countries persecuting Christians by Open Doors, a Christian persecution monitoring group.

According to the U.S. State Department, Somalia's constitution designates Islam as the state religion and prohibits the spread of other religions. In addition, laws must comply with the principles of Sharia (Islamic law) without exception when applied to non-Muslims.

If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so those who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him (1 Thessalonians 4:14).

Lord, we hear news that Kenyan brothers who were worshiping and preaching the gospel in Somalia have been killed.

As we see the end times approaching, we are hearing more and more news that believers in Jesus are suffering and persecuted from all over the world.

However, the Lord promised resurrection to those who died in Jesus.

Lord, please allow the power of Jesus’ cross resurrection to fill the land of Somalia through the deaths of the Kenyan Christian brothers who were murdered in Somalia.

Please let it be testified that Jesus died on the cross for Somalia and saved them.

In this way, let the salvation of Jesus Christ be proclaimed among the Somali people, and let the Somali people die for Jesus and live for Jesus in the end times!
