[Today’s Prayer] Afghan Taliban demands Pakistan to not mistreat Afghans subject to deportation

While Pakistani authorities are deporting Afghans and other illegal immigrants in the country, the Afghan Taliban government has demanded that Pakistan stop treating Afghans poorly and allow them to return home with dignity.

According to Afghan Tolo News on the 6th (local time), Acting Deputy Minister of Defense, Mohammed Yaqoob Mujahid, issued a statement the previous day, saying that the Pakistani regime should "not treat Afghans cruelly and not seize their property" during the search for illegal immigrants.

Acting Deputy Defense Minister Mujahid added that bilateral relations are being seriously damaged by Pakistan's anti-immigration policies.

He urged relevant organizations, including the United Nations, to intervene in the ongoing immigration crisis to ensure that refugees can return to their countries with dignity.

His request came as Pakistani authorities asked illegal immigrants in the country early last month to leave by November 1, and are now deporting them after the expiration of the deadline.

Relations between the Afghan Taliban government and the Pakistani government have deteriorated since Pakistan announced its policy of deporting illegal immigrants.

Pakistan claims that it is to prevent illegal immigration and to protect its citizens, but the Afghan Taliban believes that Afghans living in Pakistan are treated as criminals.

Afghans, who make up the majority of illegal immigrants in Pakistan, number about 4.4 million, including those who fled after the former Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979. Among them, about 1.73 million people are known to be illegal immigrants.

It is reported that about 250,000 Afghans left Pakistan within the voluntary departure deadline.

Pakistani authorities are currently identifying illegal immigrants and sending them to temporary holding centers as the deadline expires.

Additionally, illegal Afghans who have not met the deadline are flocking to the Afghan border neighboring Pakistan to return home.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Taliban (TTP), a terrorist group with ties to the Afghan Taliban, is said to be increasing terrorist attacks targeting Pakistani security forces.

Over the past two days, the 3rd and 4th, at least four terrorist attacks occurred across Pakistan, killing about 20 people. Although the forces behind these attacks have not been revealed, it is presumed that they were committed by the TTP.

Previously, the Pakistani government and military have repeatedly warned that the Afghan Taliban government provides shelter to terrorists such as the TTP.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. (Psalm 138:7-8)

The Pakistani authorities are deporting illegal Afghan immigrants due to anti-immigration policies, leading to worsening relations with the Afghan Taliban government. We are met with unfortunate news that four terrorist attacks have occurred across Pakistan due to terrorist attacks by the Pakistan Taliban targeting Pakistani security forces.

Lord, firstly, we desire for you to bring comfort and peace to the Pakistani families who have lost their family members due to terrorist attacks. Would you give them the gospel and restore them with love, that they may forgive the Afghan refugees with the heart of Jesus.

God of the lowly, have mercy on those who have no place to lay their heads, whether in Afghanistan or Pakistan. May the gospel of the eternal kingdom of God be spread to the Afghan refugees who have no place to set even their feet.

May the Afghan refugees that are in tribulation gain citizenship in the kingdom of God through the gospel of the cross of Jesus and rejoice in the saving power of the Lord.

Would You help the Afghan refugees, whom You created with Your hands, to come back to life with the power of Your eternal mercy and would You build a bridge of peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan through the Gospel.

Therefore, may Afghanistan and Pakistan be filled with the joy of salvation and become a nation that arises as God's final secret weapon!
