Syria and Saudi Arabia announced 47 investment agreements totaling over $6 billion (7.2 trillion won) in the Syrian capital Damascus on the 24th.
The agreements signed at the bilateral investment forum cover a wide range of sectors, including real estate, telecommunications, and finance. Planned projects include housing construction, reconstruction of war-torn areas, tourism, medical and entertainment districts, high-rise buildings, and the development of three cement factories.
Syria's Information Minister said the agreements will create approximately 50,000 direct and 150,000 indirect job opportunities.
Saudi Arabia, a Sunni-majority country, has strongly supported the Syrian interim government led by President Ahmad Shara, a former anti-government military commander.
Syria's economy has been devastated by the civil war that began in 2011.

“For I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.” (Acts 18:10)
God, we hear the news that Syria and Saudi Arabia announced an investment agreement worth over $6 billion in Damascus, the capital of Syria.
Lord, we thank you for having mercy on the Syrian people, who lack the resources to rebuild their land devastated by the Syrian civil war that began in 2011, and for using Saudi Arabia to help Syria recover.
Please let God’s Word come first to the Syrian souls who are still making a living in the devastated areas of Syria, and guide them to experience true peace and grace within it.
May Saudi Arabia, which supports and aids Syria, first come to the Gospel. May the strategies of using Islamic resources to further consolidate Syrian Sunni power fail, and may only the will of Jesus Christ be accomplished.
For this purpose, may the Syrian and Saudi churches first unite spiritually. As they pray and seek together, may the Lord open the heavenly storehouse and fill Syria both physically and spiritually.
May the Saudi church first serve Syria, witnessing to the Kingdom of God, and fulfill the mission of building Syria's foundation on the rock of faith together with the global church.
Thus, may the Saudi people, believing that God's people are already numerous in Syria and the Middle East, become those who raise up the Gospel movement, as you have said!
