On the 19th (local time), the government authorities in eastern Libya announced that they had deported approximately 700 Sudanese immigrants to their home country, which was devastated by civil war.
The Libyan government officially announced that this result was the result of a large-scale crackdown on illegal immigrants and smuggling organizations attempting to immigrate to Europe via Mediterranean countries.
The headquarters of the eastern Libyan government's "War on Illegal Immigration" announced that approximately 700 Sudanese people who were recently arrested and detained in central and southeastern Libya were deported to Sudan by land on the 18th.
In the announcement, the Libyan government stated that some of the deported immigrants had various infectious diseases, including hepatitis and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
In addition, several applicants were deported for criminal background checks and "security reasons," but did not provide details.
The expulsions are part of a continued crackdown on illegal immigration smuggling networks by the government of General Khalifa Hifter, the powerful warlord in the east.

In recent years, Libya has been used as a staging post for refugees from the Middle East and Africa who are fleeing war and poverty across the Mediterranean in hopes of finding a better life in Europe.
This has allowed smuggling networks to thrive for more than a decade. Most of the migrants they smuggle across Libya’s borders come from six neighboring countries: Chad, Niger, Sudan, Egypt and Algeria, but there are also many from other Middle Eastern countries and Africa.
Since the fall of dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya, an oil-producing North African country, has been divided between armed groups, with eastern warlords and the government in Tripoli ruling the country.
Since the civil war began in April 2023, Sudan has been experiencing continuous fighting and displacement across the country, with thousands of people trying to immigrate to neighboring Libya and seek refuge in Europe.
According to the United Nations Organization for Migration (IMO) statistics, there are currently over 240,000 Sudanese immigrants living in Libya.

Sing to the Lord, praise the Lord, for he has saved the poor from the hand of the evildoers (Jeremiah 20:13)
We hear that the government authorities in eastern Libya have cracked down on 700 illegal immigrants from Sudan and deported them to their homeland, which has been devastated by the civil war.
While the country is being used as a forward base for refugees crossing the Mediterranean Sea, the civil war has caused the regime to be in turmoil, but the souls of Libyans are suffering even more due to the crimes committed by immigrants and the fear of infectious diseases.
Lord, have mercy on the countless refugees who are oppressed by the war in Africa and are held captive in chains of suffering, and on the souls who live without dreams and hopes in the land of Libya.
Countless refugees are leaving their home countries to gain freedom and are passing through Libya, but in the process, there are so many souls who drown and die, yet they continue to risk their lives to go to the land of dreams, Europe.
However, we proclaim that the only place where there are true dreams and hope is the kingdom of God!
Please pour the hand of salvation of Jesus among the immigrants passing through Libya, so that they will not die without hope, but serve only the Lord of life and place their hope in God!
For this, we want Libya to rise up with the gospel. Please make Libya a global church that spreads life in the land of Libya, which is filled with the pain of civil war and the spirit of Islam, and make Libya a country that does not deny the Lord and willingly walks the path of the Lord!
