[Field Story] Netanyahu threatens retaliation: Iran is behind attacks on Israelis

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Iran of being behind recent attacks targeting Israelis in the Palestinian West Bank, Reuters reported on the 21st (local time).

“We are in the middle of a terrorist attack that was orchestrated, directed and funded by Iran and its satellite states,” Netanyahu said in a broadcasted speech.

He added that Israel would "take action, near and far, to retaliate against the attackers and those who sent them."

Earlier in the day, a shooting occurred targeting Israelis in the West Bank, killing one and injuring another.

An armed gunman open fired at a vehicle that was moving on a highway, killing a woman in her 40s and seriously injuring the driver, a man in his 40s.

The Associated Press reported that the shooting was believed to have been carried out by Palestinians.

Also, on the 19th of this month, a 60-year-old Israeli man and his 28-year-old son were killed in an indiscriminate shooting by gunmen in Huwara, north of the West Bank.

Tensions later escalated when residents of nearby Jewish settlements entered Palestinian villages and carried out retaliatory violence.
