[Field Story] Dagestan, living in the true light of knowing God

Hello. My name is Ibrahim, and I am a Lezgin living in Dagestan.

I worked as a police officer for over 25 years, and am currently retired and living on a pension.

Since I worked as a Russian police officer, I am familiar with both Islam and Christianity.

In recent years, families who believe in Jesus have moved into the apartment where I live.

I got to see them worship, serve others, and fellowship, and I grew closer to a Christian family, so they now feel like my family.

Then, a year ago, I developed an eye disease and needed surgery, but I was afraid of surgery, so I put it off and ended up completely losing vision in one eye.

As not only my eyes but my overall health deteriorated, I began to fear death.

Around that time, a Christian family living next door told me about Jesus.

And when I praised and fellowshipped with them, peace came to my heart, and every time I listened to the Bible, I came to know the amazing will of God.

I feel like I'm still somewhere between Islam and Christianity, but I want to learn more about Jesus.

Please pray that I may come to know the real truth that gives the true love and salvation.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Heavenly Father who loves Dagestan, thank you for meeting Brother Ibrahim and shining the light of knowing the glory of God in him, who was living in fear of death because he did not know Jesus.

We believe that the light of knowing the glory of God on the face of Jesus will chase away all the fears in Brother Ibrahim, and that Brother Ibrahim will now enjoy the authority of becoming the child of light.

As Brother Ibrahim learns more about Jesus through the Word, please help him wholeheartedly accept Jesus, who bore the cross for Brother Ibrahim and broke the power of death.

Also, please shine the light of glory of knowing God on the countless brothers and sisters in Dagestan who, like Brother Ibrahim, are suffering in fear of death because they do not know Jesus. May the people of Dagestan come to the real truth and salvation!
