[Field Story] Azerbaijan, chosen with power, the Holy Spirit, and with great confidence

(The photo above is not related to the content.)

Hello, I am Sevgi, living in Azerbaijan.

I like Koreans, so I have been attending church meetings with my Korean friends, but in fact, I was an atheist with little interest in religion.

When my parents divorced when I was young, I became resentful of my father and stopped believing in the existence of God.

There was a difficult time in my life. My mother accidentally caused a car accident, and one person lost their life.

I was having a hard time, feeling guilty because I thought that if I had been by my mother’s side, the accident would not have happened.

I suffered from severe depression for several months and stopped attending worship services. Then, I heard that there was a Korean counselor at the worship service I was invited to.

And while receiving counseling from him, I accepted Jesus. While receiving counseling, I experienced the Holy Spirit, repented of the sins in my heart, and accepted Jesus as my Savior.

After that, I decided to love only Jesus and attended worship services, but I recently have not been able to attend the worship services as often due to my continual work and demand to support myself.

Also, in the Bible study group I attend once a week, I have difficulty getting to know Jesus Christ, the true God, due to incorrect and false background knowledge. However, I am continuing to read the Word and trying to find the truth.

I want to believe in Jesus, who came to me as light and solved the problems in my life, as my Savior. He forgave my sins and solved the problems in my life that I had difficulty carrying. Please pray with me so that I can get to know Jesus, the one and only truth, better!

For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. (1 Thessalonians 1:4-5)

Thank you, Lord, for loving Brother Sevgi and leading him to the place of worship and for allowing him to receive Jesus Christ as Lord in the Holy Spirit.

Although Brother Sevgi misunderstood God in the past, we believe that the Lord, who knows Brother Sevgi’s painful heart better than anyone else, has covered all his wounds with the blood of the cross. Please guide those he meets to receive the same healing in their hearts through the gospel.

Brother Sevgi is unable to attend worship services because he has to take responsibility for his family’s living. Lord, who said that if we seek His kingdom and righteousness first, He will give us all these things as well, please take responsibility for his family and open the way for Brother Sevgi to come to You with more joy.

Brother Sevgi is having difficulty truly accepting Jesus while studying the Bible due to incorrect background knowledge. May the Holy Spirit dwell in the Word and lead this brother to the truth with power and great confidence.

Lord, who chose Brother Sevgi, as you showed him that the gospel is not just spoken in words, may the Azerbaijani youth whom Brother Sevgi will meet and testify to come forward with Your anointing.

Therefore, with power, the Holy Spirit, and great confidence, raise up the Azerbaijani youth who are in weariness in this world so that they may be those who will conquer the nations with the power of the Holy Spirit!
