[Field News] Hezbollah sends 2,000 troops to Syria..."rebels to near Damascus”

Lebanon's pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah has sent about 2,000 fighters to help Syrian government forces struggling against a rebel offensive, AFP reported on Sunday.

“Hezbollah has sent 2,000 fighters to Qusayr, Syria, to defend its positions in the area,” an unnamed source close to Hezbollah told AFP, adding that ”there has not yet been any engagement with Syrian rebels.”

Qusayr in western Syria, bordering Lebanon, is close to Homs, where Syrian rebels led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) are on the offensive. It is often bombed by Israel as a major route for Hezbollah to smuggle weapons through the Syrian regime.

The rebels recently captured Syria's second city of Aleppo and its central stronghold of Hama before continuing southward, focusing their offensive on Homs, the gateway to the capital, Damascus.

In addition, some rebel groups have reportedly taken control of large parts of the Daraa region south of Damascus, putting government forces under pressure from both the south and north.

There are churches in Syria that you have left behind. Pour out your good heart on every heart that hates and resents, that they may go forth with the gospel to the Syrian people, who are weeping tears of pain.

May the Syrian Church, by doing Your good works, bring the Syrian people to belong to You, and may the Syrian people come to You in all circumstances, and may the Syrian people boldly proclaim Your gospel in all circumstances!
