EGYPTIAN GOVERNMENT URGES ECONOMICALLY TROUBLED RESIDENTS TO "EAT CHICKEN FEET"
"God, don't let it get to the point where we have to eat chicken feet."
The words were uttered by a man who was begging around a poultry store in Giza, a suburb of Cairo, Egypt's capital. The BBC reported on the 19th (local time) that the Egyptian government faced strong criticism after encouraging citizens to eat chicken feet amid severe economic hardship.
Unlike in Asia such as Korea, chicken feet are mainly used to make dog and cat food in Egypt rather than as a food ingredient. The BBC explained that the promotion of these chicken feet as protein-rich parts at a time when prices were struggling due to the effects of the war in Ukraine and other effects fueled public anger. In Egypt, the prices of basic ingredients such as cooking oil and cheese have increased two to three times in the past few months. This month, the inflation rate exceeded 2%.

Egypt has asked the International Monetary Fund for four bailouts in the past six years and spends about half of its government revenue on debt payments, the BBC reported.
Some point out that the government's injection of huge amounts of money into national projects has accelerated the economic crisis.
Currently, the Egyptian government is spending huge amounts of money on high-speed rail and nuclear power plants, along with large-scale construction projects such as the New Administrative Capital near Cairo and the government building and new city of Alamein in the north. Investment in the private sector has fallen sharply as a result of the reversal, and foreign investors have left Egypt in droves.
The BBC said past economic riots that toppled the regimes of Hosni Mubarak and Mohamed Morsi, and that public anger over the economic crisis showed signs of unrest.
(Afterword)
50. Do you not think it profitable for you that one man should die for the people, that the whole nation should not perish. 51. These words are not spoken of themselves, but are the high priests of the year, and Jesus is for the nation, 52. And foretold that He would die not only for the sake of his nation, but also to gather together the scattered children of God and make them one (John 11:50-52).
Praise be to the name of Jesus Christ, who died and rose again for all nations. Thank you for your grace on the cross that set us free and delivered us from the power of death.
As Ramadan approaches, we hear the sad news that Egypt is struggling to live due to months of severe inflation. In particular, the price of the most important food and basic ingredients has risen a lot, making people's lives more difficult and difficult.
We can only imagine that in the face of this reality, the hearts of those who face Ramadan will be filled with emptiness and hunger. We believe that hunger is not just the hunger of the flesh, but the hunger of not hearing the word of God, so may the gospel of the kingdom of Christ Jesus crucified satisfy their longing.
May this Ramadan in Egypt, perhaps the least affluent of ever, be reversed into an opportunity to return to Jesus and gain true riches, not just a time to grumble and complain against God. May it be a time of fulfillment of the plan and Word of Jesus Christ to gather and unite the scattered children of God!
May more Muslims now and return to You Jesus! May this time rise up as a nation to accomplish Your will together. May the nation of Egypt, boast of the cross in the midst of economic hardship and poverty, and enriching the nations with the Gospel, and draw all nations to the Lord!
