[2023 Ramadan Day 27] Night of Power
Updated: Apr 18, 2023
Ramadan is one of the five duties of Islam. In Islam, they believe that after death, you will stand before the judgment seat of Allah and he will weigh all the good and bad deeds of your life on his scale—if you have more good deeds you will go to heaven, and if you have more bad deeds you will go to hell. Ramadan is considered the most important of the five duties of Islam because it is a period in which you can cleanse your sins by fasting and praying for the 30 days.
The 27th day of Ramadan is called ‘The Night of Power’. This is the day when Muhammad, the founder of Islam, received the first of the revelations of the Quran, and in the Quran, the Islamic scripture, it says “The Night of Power is better than a thousand months”, teaching them to pray all throughout the night asking for blessing and forgiveness. And so, Muslims believe that if they pray all night on the day of power, they can receive blessings and rewards worth more than that of 83 years and also receive forgiveness for all the sins they have committed their entire lives. In this way, since all their sins they have committed can be forgiven by the prayer of just one day, the presence of this ‘Night of Power’ is imperative for Muslims. Even those who normally pray at home come out to the mosque on this day to pray all night seeking forgiveness and asking for personal prayer requests.
This year’s Night of Power will be held on the 17th of April. Out of the entire Ramadan period, which is spiritually the darkest time of the year, the most dominant stronghold is formed during the Night of Power. The 1.9 billion Muslims around the world are deceived by the lie of Islam that they themselves have the power of salvation and will pray desperately for the forgiveness of their sins from their entire lifetime during the coming Night of Power.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” (Romans 5:8-9)
Only the blood that Jesus shed on the cross and his grace can save these who are wandering even today because they do not know the truth. Our Lord is already calling the 1.9 billion Muslims to come before the grace of salvation and the name of Jesus Christ who has redeemed all nations from sin. He does not cease this faithful work of salvation, and even now during this month of Ramadan, he is turning many souls back to himself.
Brother Shamil, who lives in Dagestan, accepted Jesus during this Ramadan. Brother Shamil, who was watching a video about Jesus’ death and resurrection, asked why so many people asked for Jesus to be crucified when Jesus was being questioned by Pilate. When we shared about Jesus and that he died for our sins and about God’s plan of salvation in response to his question, Brother Shamil confessed, “Jesus died for my sins and for the sins of all people, He is the Son of God and He is our Savior!”
Sister T, an Afghan refugee living in Türkiye, recently received the Holy Spirit and is boldly witnessing the gospel during this period of Ramadan. The first day that she went to evangelize, when she revealed to the Afghan soul she met that she was Christian and preached the gospel to her, she accepted Christ. Afterwards, when Sister T, prayed in tongues for this sister, she immediately received the Holy Spirit and started praying in tongues with her! That same week, there was even more grace as she visited another family and boldly preached the gospel and exhorted them not to doubt but to try coming to church, and that Sunday, the family came to the church, became members, and accepted Jesus Christ!
Also, Sister Nardeen from Morocco was found out by her father that she believes in Jesus during this period of Ramadan. Sister Nardeen, who was taken to the police by her father, spent the entire day at the police station being investigated by the police. However, she was not afraid but rather confessed her faith to the police and confessed that she will follow Jesus in every situation!
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn” (Isaiah 61:1-2)
Amen! During this time of Ramadan when the darkness of Islam appears the thickest, the Holy Spirit is working among the nations. The souls of the Muslim world, who are brokenhearted and have been deceived by lies for such a long time, are now running joyfully to Jesus, who gives true freedom and salvation without cost. And now, no matter what sufferings there are, those who boldly witness to the gospel and follow Jesus are rising up! On the Night of Power, we proclaim that now is the time of favor, now is the day of salvation where our God will wipe away the tears of Ishmael! As the global church unite to wage spiritual warfare and pray on behalf of the 1.9 billion Muslims, the power of Islam that has held these people for 1,400 years will be broken, and God’s work of salvation for all peoples will be fulfilled!
[Today's Prayer]
1. Lord, on this coming Night of Power, would your work of salvation come upon the 1.9 billion Muslims. Would you come and meet these who are staying up to pray all night with no assurance of salvation to a false god. Salvation is only in Jesus Christ. This Night of Power, as the global church unites to wage spiritual warfare and pray on behalf of the 1.9 billion Muslims, would the falsehood and bondage of death that have captivated them for 1,400 years be broken and would they come to Jesus who is the truth and freedom! Let us pray together!
2. Lord, thank you for shining the light of salvation among the nations during this time of Ramadan. In the remaining time of Ramadan, we desire that the gospel would be witness even more strongly in the nations. And for all those who hear the gospel, would you allow them to accept Jesus and receive the eternal life that only Jesus can give! Would the work of revival begin in all the nations! 1.9 billion Muslims, come to Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life! Let us pray together!
