This year, the Lesbisch-Schwules Stadtfest (German for “Lesbian and Gay City Festival”) was held in Berlin, Germany, on July 19, 2019.
The festival was held one week before “Christopher Street Day,” a popular annual gay parade that happens in Berlin as well as in many other European nations.
In Berlin’s representative gay village, Nolendorf, where the festival was held for two days from July 20-21, the streeets were filled to the brim with people.
An estimated 350,000 citizens flocked to Nolendorf enjoy the festival, according to the organizers.
The main street of the festival area, Moss Strauss-Strasse, was like a huge outdoor club. Rainbow flags were everywhere and citizens danced shoulder to shoulder.
In one alley, however, booths of political groups were lined up. There were booths set up by the centrist-conservative Christian Democratic Party, the center-left Social Democratic Party, a minority in the grand coalition, the pro-business Liberal Democratic Party, the liberal Green Party, the Left-Wing Party, and the Pirates Party.
Only the far-right party of the Christian Socialist Party (AFD), which operates only in the German state of Bavaria, has shown opposition to gay rights.
The Christian Democratic Party set up a booth led by Lesben und Schwule in der Union (LSU), a gay group within the party. Aside from LSU, the Christian Democratic Party has generally been conservative about gay rights.
When the Federal House of Representatives passed a bill in 2017 that recognized gay marriage as a legal equivalent to heterosexual marriage, a majority of the Christian Democratic Party opposed.
However, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel has been said to have virtually allowed the bill to be passed by hinting at a free vote at a general meeting with Christian Democrats.
The pamphlet handed out by the Liberal Democratic Party booth showed support for gay rights, saying “The Liberal Democrats value the right to self-determination in all people’s lives.”
“Participating in gay pride festivals is a good opportunity to let people know that our party carries out a policy of harboring minorities,” said Bernd, a party member who was at the Liberal Democratic Party booth, stressing that while the party has a conservative and business-minded aspect, it is also progressive in minority affairs.
In “Christopher Street Day,” political parties also played one of the pillars of the march. The left-wing party and other liberal parties mobilized large trucks to express their solidarity with homosexual minorities.
Every year at the Lesbian and Gay City Festival, police set up booths and campaign against homophobia.
Berlin state statistics show that as of 2019 there are 250,000 homosexual people in Berlin, of which 40,000 are over 60, and 80,000 are between the ages of 12 and 27.
The Berlin state stressed in a pamphlet that under the Constitution and the General Equality and Daewoo Act, Berlin is making efforts for citizens with different gender identities.

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
Romans 13:1 – 2, NIV
A gay festival was held in Germany and many people and political parties participated. The Christian Democrats also joined the festival, saying they value gay rights.
May we depart, O Lord, from all the ugly lies that defile God’s word and deeds. The corruption of gender identity has confused people and is going up against God’s intentions for man and woman.
Judge the false hosts who disobey the word of God and show the people their wrongdoing.
Let all false values that people are holding higher than the word of the LORD be destroyed, and let the lies that say, “We have the right to make our own decisions in life” leave.
Let the churches of Germany and Europe wake up, pray, repent with tears, and come back to the Lord.
In this last age, let us not kneel before the world, but submit and obey the Lord alone! Amen!
